ABOUT:
Why PLAY? What is the power of PLAY? Play opens the door to imagination. Imagination = Possibility. Possibility becomes Transformation. Play weaves community, reminds us of joy, of wonder, of our natural power to create. It is a healing, life-generating force that can shape new realities. This is why PLAY.
What is FIERCE PLAY? Theater? Art? Sound? Story? YES! FIERCE PLAY is an energetic, full-bodied, multi-sensory experience. Created by ensemble theater director Amy Sass, FIERCE PLAY expands imaginative capacity through artistic agility. This holistic method is based in physical theater and interweaves dance, story building, visual art, and soundscape.
Each session will find us up and moving, utilizing the body as a storytelling device, a kinetic sculpture, a musical instrument. In a short time you will be sweating, sounding and laughing with others. A kind of artistic intimacy emerges as we play in this artful, tactile environment. This joy-based practice cultivates a deep sensory awareness, opens the expressive voice and breaks up psychic stuckness. We will invite the WEIRD, the WISE and the WILD into our practice. You will leave feeling ALIVE.
“ A pedagogical miracle” - Marz D.
“ FIERCE PLAY is fantastical fun! There’s a certain vulnerability in the experience that causes this contagious joy and connection with the other participants. Under Amy’s energetic direction, a workout feels like playtime. I cannot wait until the next time I get to do this!” - T. Jones
